The trap is that the headline plan names sound usage-based in a friendly SaaS way, but the real pricing engine is MTUs—and that means the bill moves with your adoption curve, right when your team is least excited to add another fixed annual software cost.

I’ve seen this play out with growth-stage product teams more than once: they buy onboarding software for a narrow activation problem, then six months later they’re debating whether they really need A/B testing, analytics integrations, and more survey volume badly enough to justify a 3x pricing jump. That’s the real Chameleon pricing conversation, not the neat three-column plan page.

But if your growth lead wants to compare checklist onboarding versus progressive tooltips, and your product ops team wants events flowing through Amplitude or Segment, you’ve already hit Growth territory even before the MTU ceiling.

But once your program becomes cross-functional or measurement-heavy, the steep jump from $4,000 to $12,000+ per year is the story. That’s the pricing reality buyers should focus on. Not whether the entry plan looks affordable on paper.

So my recommendation is simple: map your likely upgrade trigger before you buy. If your next 12 months include growth, experimentation, or deeper analytics workflows, price Chameleon as a Growth tool now—not a Startup tool you hope to stretch.

If your bigger need is understanding user behavior, not just nudging it, don’t confuse in-app survey collection with actual qualitative research. Use Chameleon for guidance. Use a conversation layer when the decision matters.
